Charlotte Gipson
For an Art Lover, Princeton Windrows is Sheer Delight
It is often said that a love for the performing arts is like an affair that lasts a lifetime. Charlotte Gipson knows this all too well. Her love for art, music, and literature began at a very young age. Growing up in Johnstown, in western Pennsylvania, Charlotte was inspired by the example of her mother, who was an artist, pianist, and writer. Her family had strong ties to the community, especially to the AME Church in Johnstown.
Charlotte earned a B.A. in social sciences from Thomas Edison University and an MBA from College of New Jersey and had a rewarding and lengthy career as a business administrator. Her marriage to Rev. Leon Gipson, Sr. of the AME Church brought her to Princeton in 1971, when he received his new posting. The doors opened to a new life filled with social and volunteer work, as well taking on the duties expected of a reverend's wife.
With advancing age, Charlotte sought a retirement community where she would feel secure and totally at home. She discussed her options with family members and it was unanimous that Princeton Windrows was ideal. So, Charlotte decided to downsize, choosing a one-bedroom apartment. She quickly settled down to life at Windrows and renewed her passion for music and the arts. Every day after lunch she finds herself at the piano for an hour, playing popular music from the '30s to the '60s. She is often in demand to play at Windrows' social events. Her décor includes many unusual keepsakes, which makes her home comfortable and highly personal. An avid reader, Charlotte is a member of the Library Committee.
As someone who has allergies, Charlotte really appreciates the attention she gets from the Wellness Center, where these ailments are closely monitored. She also receives blood tests and flu shots through the Wellness Center and uses the onsite gym three times a week, getting professional tips from the staff.
Blessed with extended family and friends, some who live nearby, Charlotte takes great pleasure in hosting large gatherings over meals in her choice of dining rooms at Princeton Windrows. She attends lectures and uses the transportation offered to do grocery errands, eat out, and attend theatre and symphony. She has hired housekeepers before and attests to the thoroughness of those services offered at Windrows.
