Marjorie and Leo van den Blink
Lovers of the Performing Arts Have Found a Perfect Home
The van den Blinks are truly an international couple. Leo grew up in Southeast Asia and Holland, and Marjorie in Kenya. They moved to the United States as young adults and met and married here while pursuing their career dreams. They both obtained advanced degrees, and Leo taught for many years and retired as a school principal in East Windsor, New Jersey. Marjorie pursued a career in finance and investment banking.
The couple shares a love of travel and the performing arts. Leo is an accomplished pianist and has presented music programs in several venues. Marjorie adores ballet, and has been a fundraiser for Audrée Estey, founder of the Princeton Ballet (now called the American Repertory Ballet). Having lived in New Jersey for more than forty years, the van den Blinks have many friends who remain in the Princeton area, as well as physicians whom they trust with their healthcare.
Extensive world travelers, Marjorie and Leo understandably had high expectations for a retirement community to meet their needs and tastes. After exploring several options, they chose Princeton Windrows for its picturesque location, great food options and dining rooms, range of cultural activities, fun events, vibrant senior community, proximity to the town of Princeton and its theatres, as well as its convenient location within easy commuting distance to both New York City and Philadelphia.
Their transition to a retirement community has been almost effortless. They chose to live in a Windrows apartment, which is relatively soundproof and very private. They find the community very friendly and welcoming and have formed close friendships in their years living here. Leo continues to give piano lessons, and both love playing piano at home or at community party locations. Happy with the quality of life here, the couple has availed themselves of physical therapy sessions, which have kept them limber and strong. There are local physical therapists that can be hired by the homeowners to provide all types of therapy. Therapy sessions can take place within the community common area, such as the Fitness Room, or in the owner's private residence. They find the staff universally polite, efficient, and professional, and always willing to help. They are extremely pleased with their decision to retire at Windrows and will continue to pursue the activities available and utilize the full amenities at their disposal.
